New Monday Night Course: The Church that Sings

In Uncategorized on October 11, 2016 at 2:49 pm

Just to let you all know that a new Anima Education course will begin on Monday November 7 at 6:30pm at Mary Glowrey House in Fitzroy called “The Church that Sings”.

I’ve been wanting to do a course on this subject for a long time, and the recent publication of the new Catholic Worship Book II has provided an excellent opportunity.

The course will be an introduction to the hymnody and song of the Catholic Church through the ages. The will be plenty of opportunity for singing contemporary favourites, but we will also learn something of the breadth of our tradition and of the richness that we have inherited from the past.

Dear Friends,

Our third term this year will be a reading course on Pope Francis’ Encyclical on the Environment “Laudato Si'”. We start at Mary Glowrey House on Monday August 8. Check out this page for full details.

And Ballarat is a wonderful place for a holiday in the springtime – so why not plan now to attend the weekend seminar on Mary in the Bible at Nazareth House from Friday September 23 to Sunday 25? Full details here.

“Reading Romans” continues – New Students Welcome

In Uncategorized on April 16, 2016 at 2:32 pm

The new Anima Course “Reading Romans” started in Term One, but continues in Term Two.

In Term One we did a fair bit of work on introductory topics, so have only just begun reading Chapter One of St Paul’s message to the Christians in Rome. In Term Two we will turn our attention to reading the rest of the first eight chapters of the Letter to the Romans.

Also, due to a diary planning mistake, we only had five sessions in Term One, so Term Two will have seven full sessions.

New students are very, very welcome; there is still a great deal to gain from this course even if you didn’t attend the first term.

The new dates are: May 2, May 9, May 16, May 23, May 30, June 6 and June 20 (June 13 is a public holiday).

Plans for the rest of 2016 are as follows:

Term Three: Laudato Si’ – Pope Francis’ Encyclical on Ecology (July 25 – August 29, 2016)

Term Four: Introducing “Catholic Book of Worship II” – the hymns and songs of the Church (November 7 to December 12, 2016)
